Description
Pentair WhisperFlo High Performance Pool Pump
Energy Efficient Swimming Pool Pump
Robust thermoplastic with the Cam & Ramp™ "see thru" lid design. Self-priming, high flow with patented Funnel-Flo diffusers. 2 in. suction and discharge ports. Motor features threaded shaft and durable commercial duty 56 frame motor with NEMA square flange.THE INDUSTRY STANDARD BY EVERY MEASURE
The innovative hydraulic design used in the WhiperFlo pump moves water more efficiently and more quietly than competitive pumps. Under typical operating conditions, the WhisperFlo pump offers the highest water flow of any high performance pump—yet with the lowest electricity consumption. And, the WhisperFlo pump is designed to be a tireless workhorse. Its engineered thermoplastic housing withstands extreme heat and resists corrosion. The commercial grade motor frame has a rustproof, stainless steel motor shaft and sealed bearings that never need lubrication. Engineered to provide optimum performance in any size pool or pool and spa combination, the WhisperFlo pump is built to last a lifetime, and as a result, has become the industry’s top seller for years.quiet, efficient, and durable.
The WhisperFlo® High Performance Pump delivers maximum circulation efficiency at the lowest operating cost, and long, trouble-free life with minimal maintenance. Our legendary hydraulic design has been refined over 40 years for superior performance. No wonder more than 2 million Pentair® pumps have been selected by pool professionals.

How to select the right pump for your pool
The chart below shows the performance curve of the Pentair WhisperFlo Energy Efficient swimming pool and spa pumps. Looking at this chart you can see the scale on the left marked "METERS OF WATER" / "FEET OF WATER" which is the total daynamic head in feet/meters of water (TDH) . The total daynamic head in feet of water is the amount of pressure resistance in the pool piping the pump has to overcome to push water through the pipe. The easiest way to calculate the TDH in a pool is to read the pressure guage (PSI) readings in a cleaned and running pool filter and multiply the PSI by 2.31.
TDH = (PSI x 2.31)
You can also add a constant factor of 10 to compensate for friction loss with piping, filter media e.t.c
TDH = (PSI x 2.31) + 10 |
Determine the Desired Flow Rate (DFR) in Gallons Per Minute (GPM) for your pool
Desired Flow Rate DFR = Gallons of water in pool / Turn Over Rate* x 60 |
* Turn Over Rate for public/commercial pool = 6 hours, |
* Turn Over Rate for residential pool = 8 to 10 hours, |
Example: Desired Flow Rate DFR = 20,000 gallons / 8 hrs x 60 = 41.67 gallons per minute (residential pool)
Now you can read the pump performance curve by following the TDH line across the chart until it crosses your GPM reading. This will give you an idea if you're operating with a proper pump size.
For example, if your TDH reading is 60 and your GPM reading is 100 you should be running a 1.5 HP pool pump as in the Pentair Pentair WhisperFlo
The flow rate in GPM of your pool is determined by the pipe size, and this in turn
determines what pump size is suitable for your pool. The table below shows
the minimum and maximum flow rates for different sizes of Plastic
(PVC) schedule 40 pipe and Copper Type K pipe. The GPM rating
of your pump should not exceed the max (gpm) value of the suction line
